How Candy Shorts episodes work

The episode structure is the single thing that makes Candy Shorts different from a clip feed, and it is also the thing most new viewers get wrong in the first ten minutes.

Length and count

An episode runs one to two minutes. A standard series is five of them, which puts a full run at eight to ten minutes. That is short enough that the format feels closer to scrolling than to watching, which is the intention.

Series that hold an audience keep receiving new episodes rather than ending. The longest currently reach fifteen, and Mona’s Worst Enemy is the clearest example of what the format does with that much room. Older episodes stay up, so a series growing does not cost you anything you already watched.

Order matters more than you expect

The feed invites you to swipe, and swiping past episode 3 to reach episode 4 works mechanically. It just wastes the series. Episodes continue directly from one another, and the ones people rate highly are rated highly because of what episode 4 does with what episode 2 set up.

If you treat Shorts as a clip feed you will find it repetitive, because out of order it is repetitive. Watched in sequence it is the only thing in adult AI video currently doing serialisation properly.

Where the paywall sits

Always after episode 2, on every series, regardless of length. That is a fixed rule and it has an awkward consequence: a five-episode series leaves three behind the subscription, and a fifteen-episode series leaves thirteen.

The value of the free tier therefore varies enormously by series, and so does the value of subscribing. Every review here says where the good part of a series sits relative to that line.

What generated video costs you

One honest limitation. Because each episode is produced rather than filmed, continuity drifts. A face settles slightly differently between episodes. A room changes proportion. A costume detail moves.

It is mildest in series confined to one location and worst in the ones with elaborate wardrobe, which is why Claimed by the Dragon Queen pays the highest price for the most interesting setting. If that sort of drift breaks immersion for you, it will break it in the free episodes, and you will have lost nothing finding out.
