Most Candy Shorts series run five episodes. This one runs fifteen, which changes what it is: less a scene with a premise attached, more an actual serial. Whether that is a selling point depends entirely on how much you like the two people in it.
The setup
Mona is forced into a shared house with David, her stepbrother, who has decided he is the main character of every room he enters. She thinks he is an idiot. He is not wrong that she cannot stop watching him. The series runs on that friction for longer than anything else in the catalogue.
How it plays out
The opening five episodes are the strongest thing Candy Shorts has produced. They are genuinely funny in places, which nothing else here even attempts, and the antagonism does real work. You are watching two people lose an argument with themselves.
Then the middle sags. Episodes 6 to 9 repeat beats you have already had, and because each one is only a minute or two, the repetition is obvious in a way it would not be in a longer format. It picks back up around 10 and the last stretch is worth reaching.
We rate it 5/5. It is fully explicit from early on and it does not ease off, which sits oddly with how much of its appeal is the talking. If you came for the comedy you will get more than you expected of something else.
Who it is for
People who found five-episode series too thin. It is the only entry in the catalogue that rewards watching in order across a real run, and the only one where skipping ahead genuinely costs you something.
